Mariemont High School Inducts Six into the Kusel Hall of Fame

Kusel Hall of Fame Inductees

The Mariemont High School Athletic Department inducted the 2021 and 2022 classes into the Doc Kusel Hall of Fame at halftime of  the Norwood at Mariemont home opener football game on August 26th.
Sam Long ’14 was a 2014 US Lacrosse All American and a two-time state championship defensive MVP while earning Keeper of the Year and All-Region honors in lacrosse for the two-time state champion Warriors. Sam earned six varsity letters in a career that included lacrosse, football and swimming.
Connor Bortz ’15 was a 2015 US Lacrosse All-American, the Ohio Attack Player of the Year, and the Enquirer Tri-Player of the Year for the lacrosse Warriors and gained All-Region recognition both as a junior and senior. Connor also earned Second Team CHL honors in football while earning five varsity letters.
Coach Kevin Maness lead the Warrior Swimming and Diving program for 25 years, raising the program to one of the top programs in Ohio, with girls state runner-up teams in 2017 and 2018. Coach Maness’ 2017 and 2018 girls teams were declared national Public School Champs for their division. Throughout his tenure, the Warriors won multiple CHL, Sectional, and District titles, sending many individual swimmers to the Ohio Championships.
Mike Bohlen ’94 gained First Team All-City and Second Team All-State recognition as a wide reciever for the Warriors, with over 80 catches in 1993 and 1994. He still holds the single-game record for yards with 226. Mike was also the starting centerfielder on the Warriors 1994 baseball team that advanced to the state final four.
Hans Hinbaugh ’14 gathered 17 varisty letters in his career in football, soccer, tennis, track and diving for the Warriors.  Hans gained All-CHL, All-City, All-Region and Second Team All-State honros in football. He scored 162 points, kicking 119 extra points and 14 field goals, and ended his career as the kick scoring leader for Mariemont Football. Hans also gained All-League recognition in tennis and soccer, and was a regional qualifier in track.
Carson Fields ’17 qualified for the Ohio Track and Field Championships multiple times, finishing 8th in the 100m Dash in 2017, 7th in the 300 hurdles 2015  and qualifed for the 300 hurdles in 2016 with 4x200 relay. Carson was First Team All-City and All-CHL in multiple events and was the CHL Female Track Athlete of the Year in 2016. Carson earned 8 varisty letters in track, basketball, and soccer.
