Announcements -- Monday, February 6, 2023

1. February is Black History Month, and by now you've probably seen the slides on the Hub screen highlighting some contributions and interesting facts about significant Americans in Black History. There will be 3 new slides each day. Keep checking so you can do well in the activity happening in English classes this month.
   
   

2. If you are planning on being a lifeguard this summer and need to get your lifeguard certification or need to  renew, you can do so at MHS starting March 9th.  Spots are limited for this first session, so pick up a registration form in the main office and return it to the main office. The first 10 people to return their registration will be in this class.
   
   

3. Sources of Strength leaders have a meeting at lunch on Wednesday 2/8
   
   

4. Sophomores- are you interested in being a part of a leadership program? Apply to the Regional Youth Leadership Program.  You will meet students from around the city and collaborate with local business and civic leaders. Each session will focus on a specific topic hosted by businesses and organizations in the region and managed by community leaders.  
   
   

5. RYL will take place once a month throughout next school year. The deadline has been extended until February 17th. The link to the application is on the counseling page in schoology.
   
   

6. Sophomores- all of you will be participating in the Sources Of Strength, Signs of Suicide Program on Wednesday Feb 8th at 2nd bell. This program teaches warning signs for suicide and how to get help if you are worried about yourself or a friend.  You’ll watch SOS video clips and discuss them together. You’ll also receive a questionnaire to help you learn more about symptoms of depression and suicide and when to seek help. You will be with your advisory groups but in a different location.  Check your counseling schoology page for locations.  Locations will also be posted outside the main office and on the hub screen.  See Mrs. Zaya with questions.
