Two Mariemont Elementary fourth grade students have earned top prizes in the Jerry Tollifson Art Criticism Open (JTACO). Claire Henry received second place honors while Adrian Fearing was third place in the 3rd – 5th Grade division competing against students throughout the state of Ohio.

 

These students participated in the “Writing About Art” learning lab program and their entries were submitted for the contest. The writing competition is an annual opportunity to recognize students for their ability to articulate and compose critical responses to artwork. The competition engages students in observing, perceiving, analyzing and interpreting.

 

Both Claire and Adrian, along with art teacher Shelley Komrska, will be recognized during a Youth Art Month reception in Columbus in March.
