Boys Soccer District Champs

The Mariemont High School boys soccer team earned a district title of its own on Oct. 26, winning the OHSAA Division III Southwest 2 district championship. The team beat Springfield Greenon 2-0 to advance to the regional semifinal as one of only 16 teams remaining in the Division III state competition.

The top-seeded Warriors stormed through district play, beating three opponents by a score of 19-0. In the championship game, MHS played through tough weather conditions for the 2-0 victory with goals by Jack Stephens and Martin Eisenhauer and a pair of assists from Luke Brothers. Goal keeper Evan Wuertemberger anchored a defense that recorded three straight shutouts in the tournament.

Mariemont will face undefeated Botkins High School in the regional semifinal round. The game will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. at Kettering Fairmont High School.
