Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. The Scholastic awards have sparked creative growth in teens since 1923 and are judged by luminaries in the visual and literary arts. National medalists are eligible for scholarships up to $10,000.

Out of nearly 5,000 artworks submitted for judging, 1,000 winning pieces of art were accepted into the Cincinnati regional show. Works were judged on originality, technical skills, and emergence of personal voice. Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention recognition were awarded to the students. Students who received a Gold Key will go on to compete for national medals in New York.

Its mission is to encourage arts education as an integral part of a student’s academic experience and to create an environment that encourages training in, and appreciation of, the arts. The Overture Awards Competition is the area’s largest solo arts competition and offers awards in six artistic disciplines: creating writing, dance, instrumental music, theatre, visual arts and vocal music.
