November 29 Update
Mariemont City Schools Families,

I hope you all had a nice and relaxing Thanksgiving break.

Since school dismissed last Monday, we have seen an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases and necessary quarantines at the high school level. In addition to this, we have unfortunately been informed of a large gathering involving many of our high school students that took place last week, in which at least one known COVID-19-positive individual was present.

Although we have done our best to conduct contact tracing of students who were at this gathering, we are not confident, at this time, that we have been able to identify all of our high school students who were present. Therefore, in the interest of the health and safety of our high school staff and all of our high school students, we will shift to the Tier 2 instructional model at Mariemont High School only beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 1 through at least Friday, Dec. 4. There will be no school for Mariemont High School students on Monday, Nov. 30, to allow us to continue contact tracing and for our teachers to prepare to shift to Tier 2.

Additionally, all high school athletics and extra-curricular activities will be temporarily suspended through Sunday, Dec. 6.

Mariemont Junior High School, Mariemont Elementary School and Terrace Park Elementary School will all remain in Tier 1; however, we are monitoring the numbers closely at these buildings and will make a shift in the instructional model if and when the need arises.

On Tuesday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 2, high school students in the Blue group will report to the building while students in the gold group will participate remotely. The groups will switch for Thursday, Dec. 3, and Friday, Dec. 4. Please reach out to Dr. Renner or Mr. Block with any further questions regarding the Tier 2 instructional model.

Please remember, it is very important that parents/guardians inform the school district if your child is quarantined because of close contact with someone COVID-19 positive. We need to know if your child has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting results and we also need to know if your child tests positive for COVID-19. If your child is tested for COVID-19, please do not send them to school until you receive results back and they are negative. Additional Information about who and how to contact us is on our RESTART webpage under the “RESTART Attendance and Illness What If” link.

Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we work through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As always, the health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Sincerely,

Steven Estepp
