Terrace Park Students Use Art to Enhance History Lesson
students with projects
Students at Terrace Park Elementary got a real-life look at life in the first days of America with their latest class project combining a history lesson and art experiment.

Fourth grade students in Melissa Mathis’ class were learning about the Revolutionary War and tasked with writing a newspaper article about a specific event, battle, etc. from the era. Once the students were finished writing their articles, they teamed up with art teacher Ann Hobart to make the documents look as authentic as possible. The real-life look was added by crumbling the newspapers and using a coffee staining process to make them look like an archived article from the Revolutionary War.
