Doc Kusel Hall of Fame Class of 2019 & Ceremony Announced
Warrior Head LogoThe Mariemont High School Athletic Department has announced that four former student athletes will be inducted into the Doc Kusel Athletic Hall of Fame as the class of 2019. Tom Talbot, Mitchell White, Elizabeth McCracken and Macko Saffin will be honored at Kusel Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on August 30 before the season-opening football game.

Tom Talbot, ’71, earned eight varsity letters as a Warrior. Talbot was a three-year letterwinner in swimming under head coach Larry Lyons, and a state finalist three straight years in the backstroke, butterfly, and freestyle relays. Earning three more letters in football, Talbot was a First Team EHL tight end and was Second Team All-City. He received second team honors for his senior season despite missing five games with a broken ankle. Talbot’s final two letters came in baseball where he was named the Warriors MVP and earned Honorable Mention EHL honors.

Mitchell White, ’09, covered the turf in Kusel Stadium in lacrosse and soccer for the Warriors.  Mitchell received First Team All-Region honors in lacrosse as a junior, and gained recognition for the Warriors leading them deep in to the state soccer tournament. White’s senior year was highlighted with First Team All-State recognition to go with first team honors by the Cincinnati Enquirer, SW Ohio Soccer Coaches Association and the Cincinnati Hills League. He was selected as the CHL Player of the Year, was selected First Team CHL three times and First Team All-City twice.

Elizabeth McCracken,’12, was a twelve-time letterwinner and a Kusel Award winner. Excelling in Soccer, basketball and lacrosse, McCracken earned First Team All-City honors in soccer for Coach Mike Haney’s District Champions, along with First Team CHL and First Team SW Ohio accolades. McCracken earned Second Team CHL and Honorable Mention All-City honors in basketball. In lacrosse, she led the Lady Warriors to a regional runner-up title in 2012, and a state semi-final appearance for Coach Kevin Ferry in 2011 while securing All-District honors. Elizabeth joins her sister, Ashley McCracken Brown, in the Kusel Hall of Fame.

Macko Saffin,’14, earned five varsity letters in football and lacrosse. Saffin earned First and Second Team All-CHL honors in football, and was well decorated in lacrosse. The 2014 Ohio D2 Lacrosse Player of the Year, he was also First Team All-America, First Team All-State, All-Region, All-City as a senior. During his junior season, Saffin was the MVP in the Ohio State Championship game and a First Team All-Region recipient.

These four Warriors will be inducted into the Kusel Hall of Fame during the annual celebration dinner at the National Exemplar Restaurant before the game at 4pm. Tickets for the dinner are available through the athletic department at 513-272-7617.
