Tomorrow we begin another chapter in the Mariemont City Schools story! The start of a new school year is always an exciting time for students, parents and staff with opportunities for a fresh start, renewed interests and academic growth.
You may have a kindergarten student getting ready for his or her first day of school ever, a high school senior preparing for his or her final first day of school or a child in any grade between – but wherever you find yourself, I know you are filled with excitement and anticipation, just like I am for my own kids, for what this school year can bring!
I have seen firsthand the preparation our staff members have put in to getting ready for a new year and I’m excited for students and families to see it too! Over the summer, our administrators were hard at work reflecting on the past year and making plans for the new one. Our administrative assistants were in the buildings organizing and planning, and our maintenance and custodial crews were busy cleaning to make sure the buildings are ready for tomorrow’s big day.
Our teachers were also busy this summer, participating in professional development, collaborating with one another and developing new and exciting lessons for their students. Just last week, we all spent the week together at our Mariemont Academy learning even more from leading experts in the educational field. Yes, the learning never stops at Mariemont City Schools!
Of course, of all the work that happened over the summer, none is as dramatic as the changes on our high school campus. The academic wing of the building was demolished, a new parking lot was paved in the upper fields and temporary classrooms were installed in both the auxiliary gymnasium and the Kusel Stadium parking lot. And it’s only going to get more exciting as the high school project continues and we watch the new academic wing built from the ground up.
Indeed, we have much to look forward to in the coming days and months. We all are so fortunate to be a part of the Mariemont Experience! I ask you to stay engaged with us throughout the year so that you are informed of everything happening in our wonderful school district. Whether in my blog, on social media, in videos or in our school district newsletter, there will be many opportunities this year to learn more about the Mariemont Experience and what drives our work in and out of classrooms every day.
I can’t wait to see you all back in our schools. Let’s make it a great year!
