Survey Says ...
“Unless you’re continually improving your skills, you’re quickly becoming irrelevant.”
That quote is from one of my favorite authors, Stephen Covey. He, of course, wrote a book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, among others.
This book was first published back in 1989 but so much about his lessons on improvement still ring true today. The truth is, if you’re not getting better, you’re getting left behind.
At Mariemont City Schools, we take this concept to heart. The only way to maintain the excellence we have created is to constantly improve. And the only way to improve is to listen to the people impacted by the work we do everyday.
By now, all parents/guardians should have received one of our quarterly Parent Experience surveys in your email. This is a new initiative to our district this year and is sent to a group of parents/guardians at the end of each quarter (depending on your child’s grade level). In past school years, these surveys had typically been sent after the final day of school, however the quarterly surveys allow us to check in throughout the year and course correct if necessary.
Students and staff also have been taking quarterly surveys to make sure all voices are heard.
These surveys produce what we call experiential data (as opposed to operational data which comes from test scores and classroom evaluations). The experiential data is used to evaluate satisfaction in areas like safety, interest-based learning, classroom opportunities, communication and more.
The district has a data team composed of administrators, principals, and instructional coaches which sorts through the data each quarter to search for common themes among students, staff and parents/guardians. This data helps us make informed decisions as we work to constantly improve our district and our schools.
I want to personally thank you for your participation in these surveys and encourage you to continue providing your feedback when the opportunity presents itself. These experiential surveys are very important to us as we chart the future of Mariemont City Schools and maintain our excellence.
