Swimming and Diving Athletes Qualify for State Competition
swimming district medalsSix Mariemont High School students have qualified for the 2020 Ohio State Swimming and Diving meet following district competition last weekend.

Junior Nathan Cox, senior Elizabeth Bonnell, sophomore Jacqueline Young, freshman Lydia Eberlein, freshman Ava Ellis and senior Erin Kelly will all represent the Warriors at the state competition.

Cox advanced to the state diving competition after wins at the Cincinnati Hills League (CHL) and sectional competitions and a runner-up finish at the district diving meet. He will compete on Wednesday, February 19, at CT Branum Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.

The swimming competition will be held February 19-20, also at the CT Branum Natatorium, with prelims on Thursday and finals on Friday.

Bonnell and Young lead the Warriors after qualifying for four events each. Connell will swim the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 400 freestyle relay while Young will compete in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay. Eberlein qualified as a member of both the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay, Ellis will swim in the 400 freestyle relay and Kelly will round out the 200 medley relay.
