Mariemont High School Football Coach Kurry Commins Announces Resignation
Kurry Commins
Mariemont High School head football coach Kurry Commins has announced his resignation as head coach of the football program.

Commins took over the program in 2013 after serving as assistant coach for a year under long time head coach Tom Crosby. In his seven seasons as the Warriors’ head coach, Mariemont compiled a record of 46-26 with two postseason appearances in 2013 and 2014.

The 2019 team completed a 7-3 record and finished 10th in Region 20, two points behind the final playoff qualifier.

“Coach Commins has done a tremendous job as a football coach and as a leader for our football athletes” said athletics director Tom Nerl. “Kurry has provided our athletes with a great example of leadership and community throughout his years as a coach in our system.”

The Mariemont High School Athletic Department would like to thank Coach Commins for his eight years of service to the department and to the athletes and families of the district.

While stepping down as the football coach, Commins will continue to teach social studies at Mariemont High School.

"It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to serve Mariemont High School and the Mariemont community as the head football coach the past seven years” said Commins. “The relationships and experiences that we created are some of the fondest of my coaching career. I want to thank the Board of Education, Mr. Estepp, Dr. Renner and Mr. Nerl for all the support and entrusting me with this amazing opportunity. To all my assistant coaches and my players, past and present, thank you! Thanks for the hard work, sacrifice and commitment towards representing this great community. My wife and children have made countless sacrifices over the years in order for me to live my ultimate dream of building young leaders and teaching life lessons through the great game of football. I now get to spend more time towards my other ultimate dream job, being the best husband and father I can be. I look forward to teaching in Mariemont for many more years and to continue leading, developing and inspiring the students of this great community!"
