April 13 (11:15 a.m.) Update on 4th Quarter Academic Plan
With the start of the fourth quarter, the district has shared the instructional plan and expectations going forward. Our main goal is that you and your children stay healthy and safe during this time. We know that, just like every child, every family situation is different and we do not want the Remote Learning Program to overwhelm or cause additional anxiety. Please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher(s) or principal(s) should you need support.

To make this fourth quarter as positive as possible, we have established the following Remote Learning guidelines and expectations:

The academic experience will be streamlined.
  • K-12 teachers have been instructed to choose the most important skills, standards and concepts needed as the focus for their lessons.
  • K-6 specials will be optional with the exception of music in grades 5 & 6.
  • K-6 schedules have a focus on reading and math learning.
  • Optional enrichment activities and Warriors BEyond activities will be provided for those that want more learning.

Remote Learning should not negatively impact a student’s grades/grade point average as long as he/she actively participates.

  • K-4 standards-based progress and report cards will only reflect mastery of the most crucial standards.
  • 5-12 grades will be A, B, C or Incomplete. Extended time will be provided for a student to remedy an Incomplete.
  • There will be no final exams at the junior high school with the exception of optional exams in courses for high school credit that will only be factored into the semester average if the effect is positive.
  • Final exams at the high school will be optional and will only be factored into the semester average if the effect is positive.

Connection is important.

  • K-8 core academic teachers will offer whole-class live sessions typically once a week. Although participation is expected, if your child cannot attend, that’s ok! They will be recorded and accessible to students.
  • 9-12 teachers will offer whole-class live sessions typically once a week. Although participation is expected, if your child cannot attend, that’s ok! They will be recorded and accessible to students.
  • K-12 teachers will make themselves available for individual or small group live connections as needed.

Students first, remote learning program second.

  • If you or your child(ren) is overwhelmed with the work, the communications, the scheduling or anything else, reach out to the teacher and/or principal and we will make adjustments for you.

Should you ever have any questions, or need support, do not hesitate to reach out.
