It was double the gold on Saturday, Oct. 19, as the Mariemont High School boys and girls cross country teams each won the 2019 Southwest Ohio Cross Country District Championship titles.
The boys team won the Division II-B race with a combined score of 48, beating out second-place Badin (51 points) and third-place McNicholas (52 points). Sam Beeler finished second amongst all competitors with a time of 16:35.9 while Bennett Turan (6th place, 17:06.4) and Santi Biro (10th place, 17:20.7) also picked up top-10 finishes.
The girls team beat out Division II-B opponents with a total score of 34, six points clear of second-place Wyoming (40 points) and well ahead of third-place Fenwick (60 points). Lily Bauer earned the individual gold, winning the field by over a minute in a time of 18:51.2. Elyse Kelly (5th place, 20:49.5), Erin Kelly (6th place, 20:51.1) and Bridget Gilmore (10th place, 21.20.3) also finished in the top-10 amongst individual racers.
Both teams will advance to the regional competition on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Troy High School in Troy, Ohio.
