March 13 Update (5:15 p.m.) - Coronavirus Update - Mariemont Elementary
We have been informed that a staff member at Mariemont Elementary began feeling ill late in the day yesterday (Thursday) and visited a family physician this morning (Friday). After an initial exam and review of symptoms the physician made the decision to test for COVID-19 as a precautionary measure and place the staff member into quarantine pending the return of the results in four to five days.

It is important to note, after reviewing symptoms and the individual case, the Hamilton County Public Health (HCPH) did NOT designate the staff member as a “Person Under Investigation.”

Although we understand this causes concern, it is important to know that this will become more common in the near future. As was shared by the Ohio Department of Health in today’s press conference, Coronavirus tests are now more readily available, and physicians will administer more tests out of an abundance of caution. Regardless, in our commitment to keep you informed during this outbreak, we wanted you to be aware that this has happened.

It is important for all of us to be mindful and aware of the symptoms associated with the Coronavirus. According to the HCPH, symptoms include:
• Fever
• Cough
• Shortness of breath

Obviously, if anyone in your family begins to exhibit these symptoms, it is important to contact your physician.
