March 12 Letter - Extended School Closure
As you are likely aware, late this afternoon Governor DeWine announced an extended closure of all public schools in the state of Ohio because of the Coronavirus and its continued spread. Therefore, in accordance with this direction, all Mariemont City Schools will be closed beginning on Monday, March 16 through at least Friday, April 3.

As was shared on Tuesday, March 10, via the district’s Coronavirus Updates webpage, Mariemont City Schools does have a home learning program in place that we will use during this extended closure beginning on Monday, March 30. Please note, a few points of clarification.
  • The first five days of the closure (March 16-March 20) will be treated like any other calamity day (snow days) and no school work will be provided.
  • Spring break will still be observed from Monday, March 23-Friday, March 27.
  • Students will be expected to begin participating in the Home Learning Program on Monday, March 30.

You can find information about what to expect from the Home Learning Program at our Coronavirus Updates webpage here. This webpage will also serve as the hub for all students to access the Home Learning Program during the school closure. Specific grade level links will be added to this page on or before March 30 for students to access directions and work to complete each day of closure.

The Home Learning Program will be a substitute for school-based instruction and therefore participation in learning activities is required and will be utilized for attendance and assessment.

Access to school district buildings will be very limited during this closure. Therefore encourage your child(ren) to bring any class materials and/or devices home with them following school on Friday.

Additionally, if you are in need of daily medication that we are currently storing in our clinics, please pick it up on Friday or email the health aides to arrange for a pickup time.

I know there will be more information that we will need to share with you in the coming days and weeks so expect additional emails from us as the need arises. Additionally, please remember the best place to go for timely and up to date information including frequently asked questions, is the district’s Coronavirus Updates webpage.

I recognize that you may have questions. I encourage you to please email any questions you may have to [email protected] so we can review and add questions and answers to the FAQ document.

As always, I appreciate your understanding as we work through this unprecedented situation.
