ME RAINBOW

First Quarter School-Wide Book: There’s Only One You by Kathryn Heling and Deborah Hembrook

In addition to our monthly Kindness Themes, we also have a school-wide book each quarter that was selected by our building’s Global & Cultural Perspectives Building Committee.   These books will be read aloud in each classroom.  They not only support our monthly Kindness Themes, but they also reinforce ways to create safe learning spaces and environments where our student’s stories are not only recognized, but honored, celebrated and loved!

Summary of the book - The ways that we are different from each other are what makes us special. It’s great being YOU-nique!

This feel-good book reassures kids that, whoever and whatever they are, it’s awesome being YOU! Expertly written to include all kinds of children and families, it embraces the beauty in a range of physical types, personalities, and abilities. Kids will love discovering and recognizing themselves in these pages—and they’ll feel proud to see their special qualities acknowledged.

“In all the world over,

this much is true.

You’re somebody special,

there’s only one YOU.”
