Mariemont City Schools Opens Second Annual International Art Show

Art work from International Art Show

After a resounding success in 2019, the Mariemont City School District has opened the second rendition of an international student art show. Partnering with the Cincinnati Kharkiv Sister City Partnership (CKSCP), the show will feature work from 60 Mariemont students and 60 students from Kharkiv’s Lyceum of the Arts Magnet School.

The local exhibit will be on display at the Women’s Art and Cultural Center (WACC) Barn in Mariemont from September 9-16. The theme of the 2020 show is “Transportation” and the the display is free and open to the public.

All 120 pieces of artwork will be on display for the local community in September and will then travel to Ukraine where the entire show will be on display later this school year. The artwork from Mariemont will be returned following the Ukrainian show. The show is made possible because of generous sponsorship by the Mariemont Arts Association as well as partnerships with the Barn and the CKSCP.

Art teachers at all Mariemont City Schools buildings have teamed up with Ukrainian art teacher Sergei Grichanok and his colleagues from the Lycem of the arts Magnet School in Kharkiv. The show will demonstrate the similarities and differences of modes of transportation between the United States and Ukraine.

The “Transportation” international art show will be on display at the Barn during the following times:
  • Wednesday, Sept. 9 | 1-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 10 | 1-5 p.m.
