Mariemont High School Orchestra Excels at Solo, Ensemble Competition

Mariemont High School orchestra students recently competed at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) solo and ensemble competition, earning seven excellent or superior ratings. The awards were held virtually with students submitting videos of their pieces. Congratulations to the following award winners:
 
Anastasia Szymkowiak received a Superior Rating for a Class A Violin Solo
Charlotte Hagen received a Superior Rating for a Class C Cello Solo
Nora O'Donnell received a Superior Rating for a Class B Harp Solo
Nora O'Donnell received an Excellent Rating for a Class A Bass Solo
Dianna Hester received a Superior Rating for a Class C Cello Solo
The MHS Chamber Orchestra received a Superior Rating for a Class B String Ensemble
Caleb Erickson received a Superior Rating for a Grade 9 Cello Solo 
Grace Erickson performed in the Open Class, which is reserved for students preparing collegiate-level music, without a formal rating
 
Additionally, the orchestra has announced a pair of summer arts camp placements and a college scholarship signing. Nora O’Donnell will be attending the Interlochen Arts Camp and Dianna Hester will be attending the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp this summer while senior Corrina Simmons committed to Miami University to study music composition and violin performance and received a substantial talent-based scholarship.
