1/16/2020 Thursday Announcements

 Today, January 16, early dismissal marking the end of 2nd quarter. The junior high will dismiss at 1:30. School will be closed on Friday, January 17, for the staff Mariemont Academy and on Monday, January 20, in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

 The results are in for the 2020 Scholastic Art Awards. Works were judged on originality, technical skills, and the emergence of personal vision or voice. We are proud to announce this year's Award Recipients:

 Honorable Mention:

Grace Asberry, Cameryn Estepp, Ellie Haynes, Elise Kennedy, MJ Steele, Patrick Sweeney, Stuart Wells

Silver Key:

Eli Adams, Elliot Brown, Ryan Glassmeyer, Abby Robinson, Davis Whitmore, Katie Whitmore, and Elise Kennedy received 2 Silver Keys

Gold Key:
Julian Hernandez, Katie Whitmore, and Elliot Brown received 2 Gold Keys

 Gold Key works will move on and be judged nationally by a panel of creative–industry experts to receive National Medals, including Gold, Silver, and those for American Voices & Visions, as well as Special Achievement Awards. National Medalists are recognized in part at a  National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Congratulations to these students on their hard work, creativity and achievement in representing Mariemont Junior High School.

Here are a few important Dates: 

1/16 – End of 2nd Quarter – Early Release

1/20 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day – No School

1/28 – Scoliosis Screenings (7th Grade students) – 9:00-11:00

1/28 – Washington DC Trip Intro Meeting (current 7th Grade families) – 7:15 am and 2:15 pm

1/30 – 8th Grade Open House at MHS

2/5 – MJHS PTO Meeting – 8:45

2/6 – Washington DC Trip Intro Meeting (current 7th Grade families) – 6:30 pm

3/17 – Harlan Cohen presentation for 8th Grade Students – 8:15-9:15

Late Arrival / Early Dismissal Procedure: 

Parents please send a note to school with your student if they need to leave early for an appointment or other reason.  Please remind your student to bring the note to the office upon arrival (prior to first bell class) where they will receive a pass to leave class early and wait at the office until you arrive.  If this procedure is followed, your student will be sent outside to meet you upon your arrival.  In place of a note to school you may email Mrs. Murray prior to 8:30   [email protected]
