Records Fall as Girls Soccer Takes District Crown
The girls soccer team claimed another athletic accolade for Mariemont High School this school year, earning the Division III Southwest 3 district championship on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The Warriors entered the 11-team district tournament as the 2-seed and earned three dominant victories by a combined score of 14-1 to win the crown and advance to the regional competition.
In the championship match against Troy Christian, Mariemont won 5-0 with goals from Maddy Murphy (2), Kendall Dewey, Ally Frey and Abbie Lyons. Goalkeeper Erika Dewey earned the shutout, her second of the tournament.
Additionally, senior Alivia Naticchioni broke a school record with her 17th assist of the season.
The Warriors are one of only 16 Division III teams with a chance to claim a state title and will matchup with rival Madeira on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. The location of the match is still to be determined.
