March 2 Letter to Families

 Mariemont City Schools Families,

As many of you have heard in the news, the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to make headlines and appears to be impacting a variety of world operations. While there are no confirmed cases in Ohio, we are closely monitoring communication being provided from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). Our ultimate goal is to protect the health and safety of our local students, staff and community.

As a district, we have an emergency Pandemic Plan in place aimed to reduce the number of illnesses and limit school disruption in the event of a pandemic within Hamilton County and/or our community. Similar to when we are trying to prevent the spread of any significant flu season, the basics still apply:

  1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  2. Cover your cough.
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth.
  4. Clean and disinfect frequently touched areas.
  5. Stay home when you are sick.
  6. Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.

We are also in close communication with our cleaning crew and are in preparations for increased disinfecting in the evenings in all of our district buildings.

This email is not meant to cause undue alarm or fear as our risk in Ohio is still considered low at this time. We will continue to communicate the importance of handwashing and healthy habits with students and we encourage you to do the same at home.

Please visit "What You Need to Know About the Coronavirus" for more information. You can also learn more about “Stopping the Spread of COVID-19” and “What to do if you are sick with COVID-19”.

Thanks for helping to keep us all healthy. More updates will be provided as needed and in accordance with our Pandemic Plan. Should you have any specific questions at this time, please reach out to your building principal.
