Warrior Recognition

Here at Mariemont, we have a number of students who achieve great accomplishments. We thought we would give them some recognition. If you know of any accomplishments we have failed to recognize, please send them to warpath@mariemontschools.org.

1. National Merit Scholars
5 students scored in the top .5% of students who took the PSAT last year. These student include Matt Gore, Lily Vonderheide, Chase Sackett, Morgan Riedl, and Jeremy Kuempel.
Five Seniors were named National Merit Commended Students for the PSAT they took last year. These students scored in the top 5% on the test. They include Brian Cornwell, Cate Ebel, April Isch, Aaron Roberts, Grant Rosson and Evan Conzett.

 

2. National Honor Society Inductees
This year 2 seniors and 26 juniors were inducted into the Mariemont High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. New senior members are Maryam Rezayat and John Srofe. The junior inductees include: Kaitlyn Adams, John Austin, Chelsea Albrecht, Brenden Ayer, Kari Bollman, Avery Braun, Allison Bunt, Emily Degerberg, Allison Dilbone, Sarah Donely, Kate Donovan, Leslie Foard, Chris Greathouse, Kristin Guastaferro, Larin Harris, Tommy Kauffmann, Allison Kehoe, Chelsea Koglmeier, Amanda Lucas, Emily Murphy, Blythe Pardue, Merey Shell, Julia Smith, Mary Spooner, and Karen Weber.

3. Regional Youth Leadership Group
Chelsea Koglmeier and Allie Kehoe are part of Regional Youth Leadership Group which meets once month to discuss social and political issues in Cincinnati.

 

4. National Hispanic Scholar
Tiago Bezerra was recognized by the College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program for scoring in the top 3% of all Hispanic students to take the PSAT last year.

5. National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards in Writing in 2005
Lily Vonderheide received the National Council of Teacher of English Achievement Awards in Writing for 2005 as one of the best writers in the country. Only 628 students were chosen from the entire country.

 

6. AP Scholar Awards
Abby Badanes, Brian Cornwell, Evan Conzett, Jeremy Kuempel, and Aaron Roberts earned scores of three or higher on at least three AP tests.

7. U.S Swimming Academic All-American
Wren Dupre and John Austin were two of the six high school students in Ohio to qualify for the honor. Students must be a junior or senior and have a 3.5 GPA and qualify in competition at the Senior Sectionals.

8. Lacrosse Scholarships
Senior Allo Perry received a 70% scholarship to play lacrosse at the University of Virginia.
Senior Maeve McGoff received a 70% scholarship to play lacrosse at Mercyhurst College.

 

9. Cross Country CHL top finishers
Juniors Tom Kauffmann, Allie Dilbone, ZZ Gore and Karen Weber all placed in the top 10 at the CHL cross country meet. Kauffmann also competed at the state cross country meet where he finished 41st.

10.  State Golf
Senior Will Kennedy placed 17th in the Division 2 State golf tournament.

11. Volleyball Sectionals finals
The Varsity girls volleyball team competed in the Sectional Finals of the Division 2 state tournament. The team consists of seniors Hayley Porst, Emily Gunn, Emma Castator, Emily West, Andi Flessa, Katie Morgan, Sarah Sattergren, and Stacy Books; junior Abby Weber, and sophomores Erica Franke and Caitlin Peterkin.

12. Girls Soccer District Finals
The Varsity girls soccer team was runner up at the District Finals for the state tournament. The team includes seniors Allo Perry, Lauren Jones, Kiersten Duffey, and Megan Groppe; juniors Chelsea Koglmeier, Karen Weber, Jackie Weber, Alex Jeske, Leslie Foard, Avery Braun, Allie Dilbone, and Allie Kehoe; sophomores Chelsea Ferguson and Elise Kubicki; and freshman Aggie Howland, Amy Sattergren, Amy Zepf, and Sarah Dillman. This team has more wins this season than any other Mariemont Girls soccer team has had in the past with thier 11 wins.

13. Goal Record Broken
Megan Groppe attained the school record of most goals scored in a season with 25.

14. Homecoming King and Queen
Seniors Kyle Murphy and Lauren Jones were named 2005 Homecoming King and Queen.

 

15. Crew Scholarship
Alexandra Clair recently signed to the University of Virginia on a rowing scholarship.
