Approximately 125 Mariemont City School District families attended the inaugural Family Math Night for elementary students.
The event included 17 math-related activities, ranging from estimation stations, tangram puzzles, dominos paths, math literature activities and various other math games. Parents were welcome to take home handouts of great math games, books and ideas to support math learning at home. Added to that, there were many prizes offered and won throughout the night, including board games, card games, pencils and gift cards.
Under the leadership and direction of the district's math coach Karen Haller, classroom teachers, intervention specialists, and the district literacy and intervention coach, Cathy Schroeder, organized and staffed several of the stations.
"One of the highlights for me was seeing students and their parents playing math games together and having fun," said Ericka Simmons, Mariemont Elementary principal. "This was a great opportunity for hands-on learning through fun and collaborative activities."
Thank you to Kroger, Subway, Orange Leaf and Skyline for sponsoring the event!
