At the beginning of each school year, PTO volunteers work with the school health professional to administer vision and hearing screenings for kids in grades K, 1, 3 and 5 as well as new students.
Vision and hearing screenings are vital in identifying children who may have vision or hearing problems. It is estimated that 80% of what children learn is through their eyes. Screenings in schools help to identify any issues so they can be referred to a doctor for a full eye exam or hearing exam.
No experience is necessary, we will train all volunteers. You will get to interact directly with the students as you administer either vision screenings or hearing screenings. We typically need 10-12 volunteers for each shift.
Volunteers sign up for 2-2.5 hr time slots, either AM or PM. We try to do all screenings in one day.
