Songs Every Kid Should Know

Knowing "kid's songs" is a crucial part of a child succeeding in music and reading.  It is a vital part of a child's growing and learning process that they are aware, can recognize and know these songs.  My students often ask where I find silly songs. There are so many great resources available that are VERY cheap.  I have found "100 Favorite Children's Songs" and cd's similar to that at discount stores, grocery stores, dollar stores and other places for less than $5.

Knowing nursery rhymes, silly songs, and other kid's songs help them make such a connection between music and reading.  Singing helps children grow to be better learners by connecting the two sides of the brain.  I have compiled a list of songs that children should be exposed to.  I try to do this in my classroom, but reinforcement at home is more valuable than you would imagine.

Play them over and over - watch your child share the love of these songs.
