Congratulations to our Mariemont Junior High Power of the Pen team, which competed at the state competition at Wooster College earlier this month. This tournament was the culmination of 23 district and 12 regional competitions held in 2017 throughout the state of Ohio.

There were 700 writers from 260 middle schools in Ohio that participated in the all-day writing event, and Mariemont earned 5th place for the team sweepstakes award.

In 7th grade, Ellison Van Scoy and Zoe Copetas won a regional Best of the Best award and will be published in the Book of Winners for 2017. Also in 7th grade, Emma Lundeberg placed 11th in the state and Lizzy Feeney placed 4th in the state.

"We are so proud of all of our writers," said Leslie Jordan, Mariemont Junior High language arts teacher and Power of the Pen facilitator. "What a great year for Power of the Pen! Thanks to our community for supporting us throughout the year!"
