Great Oaks/Mariemont High School Students Excel at State DECA Conference, Qualify for International Event

The students from the Great Oaks/Mariemont High School Satellite DECA chapter have a tradition of performing well at the Ohio DECA Career Development Conference. The tradition continued this year, as there were 15 finalists competing for an international bid. The conference was March 15-16 at the Columbus Convention Center. Eight of the 15 finalists qualified for the International competition held in Orlando, Florida, at the end of April. There will be approximately 13,000 international competitors attending the competition. One of our students, Kate Copetas, qualified for the International Competition all four years. Finalists included:

Adam Takas in Sports and Entertainment Marketing
Elizabeth Bonnell and Jossey Frye in Buying and Merchandising Team
Ryan Matarese and Jack Neville in Finance Team
Maxwell Northrop and Gabriel Hartnett in Finance Team

The following students earned an opportunity to compete in the international DECA conference in April in Orlando, Florida:

Andrew Mehl 3rd in Personal Financial Literacy
Jackson Comer 4th in Personal Financial Literacy
Jonathan Cooper and William Young 4th in Buying and Merchandising Team
James DiMichele and Jackson Trester 4th in Finance Team
