Four eighth grade students at Mariemont Junior High School have been selected to participate in a program which partners the local Holocaust and Humanity Center (HHC) and the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park organization. Chloe Moore, Sam Hicks-Jirkans, Daniel Cooper and Alex Lopez are all participating in the program which is designed to give students the skills to interpret story, both personal and historical.
The students meet once a week for six weeks with theater professionals and HHC staff. The two local companies believe that the arts are essential to the basic education of all students, no matter the age. The experience of watching a play, acting on stage or actively participating in drama activities in the classroom encourages the development of a broad range of 21st century skills, including creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration.
