Twenty Mariemont High School students are headed to the state business and marketing competition after being among the top finishers in regional events.
The students are part of the High School of Business program offered by Great Oaks Career Campuses at Mariemont High School, and are members of the DECA student business and marketing organization.
Qualifying for state competition are:
First place finishers: Santi Martinez, Principles of Hospitality; Katie Copetas, Business Services; and Emily Ferguson, Retail.
Second place finishers: Cameron Stephens, Principles of Finance; Wilson Bucher, Hotel & Lodging; Alex Wilson, Retail; Jon Uchtman, Principles of Hospitality; Anthony DiMichele and Drew Fiorenza, Buying & Merchandising Team; and Miller Steele, Financial Literacy.

Fourth place finishers: Max Hobart, Business Services; Courtney Robinson, Sports and Entertainment Marketing; and Bradley Barrett, Food Marketing.

The top three qualifiers in Principles and Team events and the top four qualifiers in Individual Series events advance to the DECA State Career Development Conference in Columbus during March, with a chance to qualify for national competition.
Mariemont High School/Great Oaks had 23 students place in the top five in their respective category. Students also attending the state DECA conference to compete or make a 15-minute presentation include:

“I am proud of our local DECA members for representing Mariemont High School and Great Oaks so well and our local DECA officers for leading first-year members,” said Debbie Baas, DECA instructor.
