Self-Discipline."
News
Hello Mariemont Elementary P.T.O.!
Before getting started on our updates, I
first want to welcome the new Kindergarten parents! I enjoyed
meeting you at Kindergarten screening. I also want to welcome
the new 5th grade parents! I look forward to getting to know
you! When I was typing in the email addresses, I recognized so
many names from Mariemont Youth Football.
If you had a new neighbor move in with a
Kindergartner, please do them a favor and make sure they have
registered with the office. The Kindergartners are being
screened before the start of school...One more
screening date remains--August 13.
Now, on to the updates. They are lengthy,
but important!
From
the Room Parent Committee-- School is fast
approaching and we still need people to volunteer to be room
parents for the upcoming school year. It is a wonderful
opportunity to get to know your child's teacher and give back to
our wonderful school and teaching staff! We need parent
volunteers for the following grades/teachers:1st, 4th, 6th, Mr.
Browning, Special Ed teachers....If you are interested please
send your response before 8/15 to: Penny House at
pennyhouse@rocketmail.com. Please include in your
response: Name of Parent, Name and grade of child:,phone
#: address, and email. If the response is overwhelming -
the room parents will be randomly selected. Thank you,
Tricia Williams, Penny House and Teresa Mikesell
Welcome Club--We should be proud of the
kids--so many volunteered to be "buddies" to those who are new
to the district! We may not need all of the "buddies," so if
you don't get a phone call from
Sandy Fisher or Kim Wuertemberger
(after August 15), don't panic! Welcome Club takes place on
Monday, August 18, and is for the families who are new to the
district.
Adult
Fundraiser--Saturday, September 27, 2008--The
majority of our fundraising will take place in the Fall this
year. Accomplishing this in the beginning of the year will help
with the budgeting! Our Adult Fundaiser takes place on
Saturday, September 27 at the newly renovated Resthaven Barn on
Cambridge Ave (one block from school!) This "Barn Raising" will
take place from 7-11 p.m., and features a "Spaghetti Western"
menu! Laura Trachtman is heading up the menu and has
secured a donation of produce for the evening from the Pipkins!
Way to go Laura! Wendy Long is coordinating the volunteers for
the evening! Thank you Wendy! Silent Auction items that are
already in include passes to Perfect North, a family pass to the
Lebanon-Mason Railroad, a $300 dollar pearl necklace from Eddie
Lane's Diamond Showroom, Cyclones tickets, Symphony tickets,
Children's Theatre tickets, restaurant gift cards, a very cool
pair of Ray Bans from Dr. Mark Kuhlman, and more! We are also
zipping up the final details on a major "presenting sponsor!"
The event will feature some of our own children's art for
auction, and an old-fashioned pie auction made by "local
celebrities!" Thank you to those who came to our
organizational meeting. We will meet again soon!
If you want to get in on the fun, please let me know!!
This event is going to be a blast! Get your sitter now!
Fall
Wrapping Paper Sale--Will kick off in
mid-September. Debbie Bernloehr researched companies and found
us a new line of papers and other goodies to offer. You will
love it! Thank you Debbie!
Cheers,
Chris Lewis

Kroger card – Rechargeable cards are available to parents, teachers
and relatives! This is an easy way for families to support the
school. We make 4% of your purchases.
;The Bigg's gift
cards have arrived! I wanted to explain a little bit about
the card program since it is different than the Kroger Gift
Cards. Each Bigg's card is pre-loaded with $50 of value.
You simply use it as cash/credit at the check-out counter.
This is different than the Kroger's card since you have to load
that one prior to your shopping. Each one has it's own
pros and cons, however, the Bigg's card is a huge donation
to the school since they are giving back 6 % to Mariemont schools.
I have a limited supply of these cards. Many people are
buying a couple at a time since we tend to spend more than the
$50.
I have set up my home as a pick up for these cards. You
will need to write a check to the Mariemont PTO for the amount
of cards you wish to purchase.
