One Small Step is a volunteer program at the Elementary School for grades 3 and 4.  The students give up one lunch recess a week to help their school and others.

Clean Sweep Monday

On this day, the students will go out and clean up the playground and around the school area.  If we have time, we will go back inside and make sure that all the trash is cleaned up and that bulletin boards look good as well.

Treat a Teacher Tuesday

On this day, the students go into the lunch room and take a duty for the teacher scheduled.  The students interact with the children to assist them in whatever it is they need.  They also throw the lunches away and clean the tables at the end of lunch.

Workout Wednesday
On this day, the students will come into the gym and do a particular workout that Mr. T. has chosen for the day.  It could be a number of activities including sprints, long distance running, jump rope and even basketball.

Thoughtful Thursday
On this day, the students talk about a particular motivation or reflection and how it pertains to their daily life.  The students then help by putting the signs up around the building and into every classroom.

Friendly Friday
On this day, the students will be making something that will lift the spirits of someone in need.  These items will include Lollipop Turkeys, Valentines and Easter baskets.

There is a schedule just outside the gym doors as you are heading back into the building.  Check that for each month's activities.  We try to give an announcement the day before the activity so that the students remember to wear their shirt.  All students that wear their shirt to school that day receive a blowpop.  Yipee!!
