While your child is in my classroom, he/she will participate in an activity called Workshop. Workshop is a time when children are divided into small groups and rotate throughout 5 or 6 workshop activities.
Unlike Center time when your child can choose activities ranging from snack to blocks to independent art, Workshop activities are required. These activities are a mix of independent and adult facilitated activities.
Your child and his/her group will rotate through all activities each week. This Workshop time may occur over a two day period or be completed all in one day. The activities at each Workshop center change each week.
The purpose of this time is to provide children with necessary reteaching, additional practice with a skill or enrichment. Activities include the use of books, tapes and headsets, manipulatives, wipe-off boards & markers, scissors & glue, computers, as well as paper and pencils.
Two, sometimes three parents
are needed to help facilitate these Workshop activities.
