Research

During the fourth theme, we read non-fiction stories about animal habitats.  As part of this unit, we will  discover some interesting facts about a sea  creature.

Under the Sea

Congratulations!  You have been chosen by the Mariemont Aquarium to design a new exhibit.  This is a very important job.  You need to learn all you can about your ocean creature so that you know how to build its exhibit.  Let the adventure begin!

You and your co-workers need to brainstorm a list of questions about the creature you want to display.   What do you need to know about this ocean dweller to care and house it at the aquarium?

After you come up with your list of questions, you will research to find the answers using books, encyclopedias, and the Internet.  Use all this information to convince your boss that this is the best creature for the new exhibit.  You will need to give her a written report about your creature, a colored picture, a diagram, and a model of the creature's habitat.  Good Luck!

    1.   Picture-a hand drawn colored picture.

    2.  Diagram-a hand drawn diagram of the sea creature with parts correctly labeled.

    3.  Written Report-information about your creature written in complete sentences with a topic sentence for      each paragraph.

    4.  Works Cited Page-tells where you found your information

    5.  Diorama-use a shoebox to make a model of your creature in its habitat with any other interesting details.  Be creative!
