Homework
Third grade is the first year that each child is expected to write in their own plan book. We feel that this is an important organizational skill so we hope that parents will check their child's plan book and encourage its use. Please notify the teacher if it is not written in each day.
Every night, the students should read for twenty to thirty minutes and record the title and pages on their Reading Log. We also want them to master the math facts. This requires consistent practice each evening. Most Fridays, we have the GROW and spelling tests. It is necessary to study for these throughout the week.
Cursive writing was introduced in the second grade. It is reviewed in the beginning of the third grade and by the second semester, third graders are expected to do all their work in cursive. Some children need to practice this to get comfortable with it.
The daily written homework and test dates will be listed in their plan book.
