MARIEMONT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
JAZZ ENSEMBLE
| The Mariemont Junior High School Jazz Ensemble is an
enrichment/extra-curricular activity offered through the MJHS Band
Department. Participation in this group is open to all students at the
junior high, although prior experience on a musical instrument is a
must! The Jazz Ensemble rehearses once or twice a week after school
during the third and fourth quarters of the school year. Many of the
members of the Jazz Ensemble participate in other school activities such
as winter and spring sports, the Junior High Play, Science Club, Art
Club, etc.
The Jazz Ensemble rehearses a variety of different styles of jazz
music in order to provide a well-rounded enrichment experience to its
members in this idiom of music. Styles range from blues to Latin to
ballads to big band arrangements and arrangements of popular rock tunes.
The Jazz Ensemble performs at the the
Junior High Night of the Arts in May and other events as can be arranged. |
