Power of the Pen Teams Place 2nd at District Competition

Both Mariemont Junior High teams placed 2nd in the district-wide competition for Power of the Pen, Ohio's award-winning educational enhancement program devoted to excellence in creative writing for 7th and 8th grade students.

Coached by Mariemont Junior High staff members Leslie Jordan, Jill Strall and Erica Eppert, the district's 7th and 8th grade teams competed alongside 230 students from 21 other schools at Indian Hill Middle School. The writers also did very well individually. For 7th grade, Monroe Nichols came in 9th place while Ana Eversole came in 3rd place. For the 8th grade, Ellie Lewis earned a 12th place medal, Chris Wood got 3rd place while Erin Kelly took 1st place out of 125 writers.

All of these writers will move on to the regional competition in March at Wyoming Middle School.
