5-16-17 Announcements

The Jr. High annual trip to Kings Island is on Friday, May 19. The FINAL day permission slips will be accepted is on Wednesday, May 17. Students who do not have a permission slip on May 17, will be unable to attend. A parent letter and permission slip with additional information are also available in the office.

Wednesday, May 17 is our Jr. High Night of the Arts. Students and their families along with community members are invited to join us for a fun night celebrating the arts. Bring a picnic blanket or chair and listen to wonderful melodies from our orchestra, band and chorus students on the front lawn (weather permitting). An amazing student art show will be on display inside our building along with a chance to purchase a cool treat to support our grade 8 student trip to Washington DC.

Congratulations to the following gr 8 students who were elected as grade 9 class officers: James McGrory – President; Nolan Michaelson – Vice President; Avery Messner – Secretary; and Henry Renie – Treasurer.

ATTENTION POWER OF THE PEN WRITERS WHO ARE ATTENDING STATE: We will have our final writing session of the year this Thursday after school in Mrs. Strall's room. Please plan on attending. Any Power of the Pen writer not attending state should see one of the coaches to get your writer's notebook back from this year.

It’s hard to believe that we are weeks away from the end of the school year and the Washington DC trip! For all kiddos traveling to DC this year, please note that there is a mandatory meeting for students along with their parents/guardians before leaving on the trip. We will be going over final details as well as reviewing and signing the behavior contract. The final meeting day will be Thursday, May 25th. There will be a meeting at 7:30am, 2:30pm, and 7:00pm. You are welcome to attend any of the three meetings along with your kiddo. Also at this meeting, students will get their trip backpack and t-shirts.

Any 8th grade boys interested in playing soccer at the high school next year should attend a brief meeting in Coach Vanags’ room at the high school on Wednesday, May 17th, at 3:15. If you have any questions please see Mr. Vanags or send an email 

Jr. High girls interested in trying out for next year’s Jr. High girls’ soccer team please attend a meeting for students and parents on May 23 at 7 p.m. at the Jr. High library. Coach Dan will go over summer schedule and explain tryout dates and schedule. Please plan to attend this very important and informational meeting.

Our HS rock band that came out of our master class series will be performing an outdoor concert to raise funds for travel scholarships. The band will be performing on May 30th from 5:00-6:00pm at Mariemont Elementary for any and all that wish to attend. We are asking for a $5 donation, with all funds going directly to help provide scholarships for students who want to take advantage of the travel opportunities being offered through our Warriors BEyond program. The "U Lucky Dawg" food truck will be on site to offer dinner, drinks and desserts (menu attached, doesn't include desserts).

Attention Current 8th grade parents and students: This is the last opportunity to enroll for two different travel opportunities that will be happening in the summer of 2018. Yellowstone: The deadline to receive a $100 discount is this Wednesday May 17. The total cost of the trip is $1655. Please go to in order to sign up. China: The final deadline to sign up for the 2018 summer trip to China is May 31st. If we do not have at least 6 people sign up, we will have to cancel the trip. Please go to in order to sign up.
