The Jr. High performance of the play, “The Ransom of Ms. Elverna Dower” is this weekend at Mariemont High School! You can see this production on Friday, May 5th at 7pm or Saturday, May 6th at 2pm. You can purchase pre-sale tickets at lunch from Mrs. Etnier, or get them at the door! Student tickets are $5, adult tickets are $6.
The Jr. High annual trip to Kings Island is scheduled for Friday, May 19. A parent letter and permission slip with additional information are available in the office (also sent by email on 4/3/17).
The Science and Math World Wide Photoperiod Competition results are in!!!!!! After 15 weeks of calculating 121 photoperiods, walking those photoperiods to predicted a latitude, calculating longitudes from photoperiod equinox data, deciphering clues based in socials studies, math, science and language arts, supporting your final predictions with evidence collected, and submitting your answers to Journey North for evaluation, we have the winners. Competing against 455 other schools around the world, Mr. Amlung’s 4th bell and Mrs. Long’s 4th bell classes earned the silver 2nd place metal. Mrs. Long’s 5th bell and Mr. Amlung’s 1st and 3rd bells earned the 3rd place bronze metal. In the MJHS intra-school competition, Mrs. Long’s 5th bell class had the best overall school of 0.54 degrees. Congratulations Mrs. Long’s 5 bell! Do I smell Pizza? Mr. Amlung and Mrs. Long are very proud of how well all our students did in this global competition! You rocked this challenge. Congratulations on a job well done!

May 6: Be a little naughty for DI! Mariemont Destination Imagination is hosting an "Ice Cream for Breakfast" fundraiser from 10 a.m. to noon May 6 at the Mariemont Parish Center. Treat your sweet tooth with an ice cream buffet at this typically forbidden hour and support the Mariemont DI Global Finals fund. Tickets are $4 in advance, $5 at the door.
May 8: Eat at El Trio Mexican Grill, 7227 Wooster Pike, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Mariemont DI. You must present a flyer, which can be obtained by emailing Jera Srikalasin at email@example.com
May 12: eat at Chipotle, 6213 Wooster Pike, Fairfax on May 12 and mention Mariemont DI, and a percentage of food sales between 5 and 9 p.m. will be donated to the Global fund.
May 14: Take Mom to Mac's for Mother's Day! Mention Mariemont DI between noon and 9 p.m. on May 14 at Mac's Pizza Pub, 6309 Wooster Pike, and Mac's will donate 25% of food sales to Mariemont DI.
A panoramic picture will be taken with the grade 8 class on Tuesday, May 9. Picture order forms will be distributed today, however purchasing a picture is optional. Students who wish to purchase a picture, please bring payment and order form to school on May 9.
The 17th mile of the Flying Pig Marathon runs thru the Village of Fairfax; and again this year there will be an official Flying Pig Water Station in our community. The water station will be located in front of Mariemont Junior High on Southern Ave between 7 and 12 on Sunday May 5. Any student interested in helping should see the builder’s club website or ask Mr. Willis for details. If you are interested in helping, register by 4/27 for a free flying pig volunteer t-shirt.
