Over spring break, the Mariemont High School varsity and JV teams participated in the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, playing four varsity games and three JV games over the course of just three days.
"We believe this experience gives the teams a great chance to bond plus the idea of constant baseball for our program allows us to greatly improve in just a few days," said Mike Hanley, baseball coach and MHS teacher. "It gives us a great 'extended spring training' before our CHL season."
Thirty Warriors participated and 90% of the players had their families there in support. JV played three teams from Ohio while varsity played teams from Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Ohio. This is the fourth time in seven years the teams have participated in this tournament.
“Our time at the Ripken Experience is extremely valuable to our players and our program," continued Hanley. "Additionally, it is a major boost to our baseball program as the players really improve their skills when playing such a high number of games in a short time. We love going back each year - the parents, boys and coaches really enjoy the experience."
