ANNOUNCEMENTS -- Monday, JANUARY 29, 2018

1.    Any junior or senior who is interested in applying for the Simon Lazarus award should come to the CCPC for an application.  Applications are due back by 8:00 on February 9.  The criterion for the award are students who: Help others, Lead others to tackle society’s problems, and act in a manner to reduce prejudice acts and attitudes.

2.    Bring warm gloves, hats, coats, socks, or blankets to your first bell class for the NHS warm hands, warm hearts drive this week – Thanks!

3.    There will be a brief AFS meeting after school today in Senora Timmerding’s room regarding AFS Day.  All members should attend.

4.    A reminder that Art Club meets this week after school on Wednesday, Jan. 31st at 3pm in the downstairs art room.

5.    The superintendent’s student advisory group meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled.

6.    Congratulations to the Mock Trial team finishing another great season. The competed against Anderson and Mason High Schools at Friday’s competitions. Matthew McGrory and Alex Wilson won Best Attorney Awards, Lucy Hanley won Best Witness Award.

7.    Congratulations to members of the World Affairs Club who competed in the Academic World Quest on Saturday.  Mariemont entered 2 teams that both placed in the top 6. A special nod to the team of Weinland, McGrory, Copetas, and Northrop for coming in 2nd place by one point.

8.    Congratulations, Jonathan Cooper, for having placed second in your DECA event last week.

9.    On Tuesday, January 30, the boys’ basketball team will be playing at Indian Hill. Please bring a “premium can of hearty soup” for the Madisonville Education Assistance Center. We are collecting for this organization which is in close proximity to both schools. There will be bins in the gym lobby to collect the soup. Cash donations are also welcome. Thank you!

10.    Any sophomore interested in attending Live or Scarlet Oaks next school year is encouraged to apply online now at www.greatoaks.com. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Tackett. CLICK HERE TO APPLY.

11.    Physical Education Waivers for winter sports are available in the CCPC and must be returned today.

12.    Kings Island will be holding Job Fairs until 4 pm on the following dates at the Kings Island’s Festhaus:  February 17 and March 3.  Learn more at kifun.jobs or see the flier outside the CCPC.
