Walk-A-thon

Friday, September 29 at the Mariemont High School track

Kindergarten, First, Second and Third Grades: 9-10:30am
Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grades: 1:15-2:15pm

Information About Walk-a-thon
Walk-a-Thon will take place on Friday, September 29. Students will be transported by bus to the high school where they will walk the track as well as take part in fun activities. There will be a break where students get to enjoy a snack. Each student will receive a colored T-shirt at school on the day of the Walk-a-Thon to wear duringthe event. The shirts are color coordinated by grade so teachers can keep track of students. The T-shirts will be returned to the homeroom teachers after the event. Please remember to wear gym shoes and bring a water bottle.

Instructions for Collecting Pledges
On Thursday, September 7, start collecting pledges. Ask family, friends and neighbors to be your sponsor. Let them know that all money raised goes directly to support MEPTO programs. Record sponsor and donation amount on the Pledge Sheet. Also track your pledges on the thermometer to see what prizes you earn! Be sure to fill out your name, grade, and teacher on the pledge sheet. Place the pledge sheet in the attached envelope. Turn pledge sheet and money into your homeroom teacher or Walk-a-Thon box in the front entry.

Prizes

Individual Prizes for Pledges Collected

  • Collect $10 in pledges – wear a hat to school
  • Collect $20 in pledges – wear pajamas on Pajama Day
  • Collect $40 in pledges – Mariemont fidget spinner
  • Collect $75 in pledges – Mariemont visor
  • Collect $100 in pledges – Mariemont long-sleeve t-shirt
  • Collect $125 in pledges – Mariemont umbrella (fits in most backpacks)
  • Collect $150 in pledges – Mariemont duffle bag

Other Individual Prizes (pledges must be received on or before the deadline in order to be eligible for the following)

  • Top Pledge Collector in the School – principal for ½ a day
  • Top Pledge Collector (boy and girl) in all grades – Fit Bit
  • Top Pledge Collector in each Grade – ride in a police car from high school back to elementary school after the Walk-a-thon
  • All students collecting pledges of $40 or more will be entered into a raffle to win a month of free candy (limited to 1lb. a week) from Groovy Gumball Candy Co. Want more chances to win the raffle? Students get 1 raffle ticket for every $40 in pledges that they bring in ($80= 2 raffle tickets, $120= 3 raffle tickets).

Class/Grade Prizes

  • Top Pledge Collecting Grade – Grade receives $400 to spend on Learning Lab material (to be voted on by the students in the grade)
  • Top Pledge Collecting Class – Classroom receives $100 to spend on classroom material (to be voted on by the students in the class)

Pledges are due Friday, September 22
