Description:
This is a required course for all juniors. It deals with the leading aspects of American history from the Civil War to the present. Attention is given to political issues, institutions, political parties, leadership, and diplomatic and constitutional questions; as well as economic, social, and intellectual trends. This course also focuses on what is unique in the American historical experience and relates American history to the broader global context. This course also requires a major research paper in the 3rd quarter.
