Seating Test #1
For Seating Assignment
Through December Concert
New Seating
may be determined for Strings Extravaganza, N.O.A. & our Trip Festival
For EVERYONE - - There will
be a short sight-reading portion on the playing test.
VIOLINS
If you currently want to play in
the first violin section on any pieces, you must audition for 1st
violin parts.
If you are interested in rotating between sections, you still
need to audition with V I Parts and you may have a seat assignment in both
sections. Only students who definitely want to play only 2nd
violin will be testing on V II only.
If any current V I happens to perform poorly on the V I
sections, you will asked to play V II parts.
CONSEQUENTLY – all violins should be familiar with all V
I & V II parts, unless you are certain you want to be V II.

VIOLAS
Violas who have been asked to
play 2nd violin on pieces will test
according to what they are playing on each piece.
If you are playing a 2nd
violin part, you will be testing for your seat as a 2nd.
You will need to report for testing during the 2nd
violin tests on that piece.
If you are playing a viola part, you will be testing for
a seat in the viola section.
You should report for viola testing for that piece.
You could potentially be awarded a seat in the front of
both sections, for example.
