OMEA Solo & Ensemble Competition is this coming Saturday

FEBRURARY 2, 2008. 

Things to know for SATURDAY

·   The Solo and Ensemble competition takes place at MILFORD High School.  (Maps of the school layout available from Ms. K)

·   You MUST arrive 45 – 60 minutes prior to your event.  It may be difficult to find where you are going . . . there are certain rooms for the competition and certain rooms for warm up, etc.  You need to be with your ensemble, tuning & warming up by 45 minutes out.

·   I may be in with other students listening to their event or accompanying them on piano, so you need to be resourceful if you are having trouble tuning etc.  Ask for help.   I will try to find groups, but we take up a huge chunk of the day for this judge, so I may not be readily available . . . This is another reason NOT to come in last minute.  It is NOT FAIR to the group.

·   YOU NEED TO BRING EXTRA STRINGS – in case there is an emergency and your strings break!!

·   Everyone still owes the students fee for the competition.  SOLOs are $13.00.  Ensembles are $17.00 (total).  PLEASE do the math.  If you are in a DUET = you owe $8.50, TRIO = you owe $5.75, Quartet = you owe $4.25, Quintet = you owe $3.40.   If you are in TWO groups, you need to add those two amounts together.

·   PLEASE make checks out to MHS String Orchestra.  I need these payments by WEDNESDAY of this week – January 30th. 

·   I will be there ALL DAY to do what I can to help you.  I really want you ALL to succeed and feel great about your accomplishment!!  You can listen to each other too!!!

All Ensembles will be performing in room B32 - - Adjudicator is Douglas Wright

Times are supposed to be carved in stone - - -HOWEVER, I think WITHIN the Mariemont times, we can switch.  They frown on this because they set aside specific (DIFFERENT) amounts of time depending on the repertoire being played.  NO SOLOS CAN CHANGE.  So you have to be able to switch into a slot that has enough time allocated for your specific piece.  SEE ME.  YOU CANNOT SWITCH WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION.  We will be disqualified.
