Altissimo
is an organization that is committed to helping young musicians realize that learning and expressing music helps them to grow artistically, personally, intellectually and socially. Altissimo’s members are highly motivated students who are dedicated to technical development, artistry, musicianship and sharing music with their community. The Altissimo Select String Ensemble has just returned from their summer performance tour in Austria. The Ensemble, whose members are ages 11-16 and who come from ten different schools in the Cincinnati area, performed at the Innsbruck Music School; at Salzburg's Cantus MM Choral and Orchestral Festival; at Salzburg Cathedral; and at Mirabel Gardens. The group is directed by Ms. Mary Beth Hoagland Khamis, who has been a music teacher and string director in Cincinnati schools for nine years.
