is canceled.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission is to
cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality
of life for patients and their families.
By raising funds, our school can help families through the Patient
Financial Aid program. Yearly, this
can help pay for medicines, the doctors, or other treatment related expenses.
How many families will we help through Pennies for Patients?

raising will fund research? In medicine, research means the careful study of a
disease with the goal of finding a cure. Your coins will help fund 480
researchers in 15 different countries on five continents! Since its founding in
1949, the Society has invested more than $750 million for research specifically
targeting leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

Do you know what a blood cancer is? It’s a certain
disease that occurs in the blood. Our blood is made up of three types of cells:
red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. A blood cancer crowds out the
healthy blood cells so they can’t do their jobs. By participating in Pennies for
Patients, we are helping raise money to find better medicines and cures for
blood cancer. Keep up the good work!

Today, Mariemont Junior
High joins more than 25,000 schools nationwide in The Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society’s Pennies for Patients program. For the next three weeks we will
be helping people who are sick with blood cancers like leukemia. Please
bring your donations to your homeroom teacher. The top fundraising
homeroom will receive a pizza party.

There are some movie posters outside of Mr. Willis' room. Please help his class
by rating them as you walk by. The more data we can collect about your
impression of these posters, the better the lesson will be.

Congratulations to Ms. Monterosso’s homeroom for winning the canned food drive
competition. They came in first place with 142 cans. Great job to
everyone who participated in the food drive.

Seventh grade students will be attending A Christmas
Carol at Playhouse in the Park on Thursday, December 8. Please
remember to pack a lunch and a drink and to dress nicely for the performance (no
jeans or t-shirts).

Any science club member wanting to learn how to make
homemade water purification system can come to our next meeting TODAY in room
302.

A big thanks to those of you who helped make Luminaria for
the Mariemont Treelighting festivities. You did a great job! Also a
big round of applause to all students who have volunteered to help out the
communities this year so far in many capacities. The number of students
doing community service and the number of hours completed so far has been
outstanding this school year. Remember to turn in your hours to Mrs. Parr
so you can be recognized for them.
