Teacher Resources

Total UT Science Links

National Science Teachers Association- This site has some basic information for non-members and search results for members on various topics. Also, the Learning Center has SciObjects and SciPacks on over 50 science topics for teacher content review. SciObjects are 1-2 hours in length and are FREE.  SciPacks are 8-10 hours in length and cost non-members $39.  Assessments and pedagogy discussions are included.  A certificate is issued upon completion, so this might be a good PD option at the local level.  Teachers select the topics of interest to them. See the Learning Center tab or the listing at the bottom of the home page. The Early Years Blog is another resource. It is listed at the bottom of the home page.

"Lab Out Loud" NSTA Podcasts- As a follow-up to its popular Behind the Books podcasts, NSTA recently launched Lab Out Loud, a biweekly series in which hosts Brian Bartel and Dale Basler discuss science news and science education with leading scientists, researchers, science writers and other important figures in the field. Brian and Dale are both high school teachers from Wisconsin keenly interested in sharing ideas via the web—through web pages, blogs, and podcasts.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources- This is the home page for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, a tremendous place to find information about Ohio animals.  This was particularly helpful to the 2nd grade teachers who found animal pictures and facts. Several teachers ordered their own copy of the free publication WILD OHIO.

Ohio Resource Center- This website if funded the the Ohio legislature to provide support in science, mathematics, and reading education.  Teachers can set up their own accounts so that recourses can be mailed directly to their school E-mail.  See the Ohio Standards option on the left bar to view indicators and then resources that are linked to each indicator. See the science educator button to then search for various topics, grade levels, and resource types.

Ohio Department of Education- This home page now has new resources for the OAT and OGT.  Check out the Standards and Instruction button on the left to find the IMS system (two successive pages) that includes access to detailed lesson plans that are linked to the Ohio Standards.  The Testing and Assessment button on the home page links (several steps) to additional resources for the OAT.

Kids.gov- Find links to U.S. Government and other kids' sites -- grouped by age and subject. Explore, learn, and have fun!

National Science Digital Library- A database of science links funded by the National Science Foundation.

Science NetLinks- All Science NetLinks resources support standards-based teaching and learning, and are reviewed by the Science NetLinks Board of Reviewing Editors according to rigorous review criteria.

American Geological Institute- Curriculum resources for teachers.
