WHOAAA !!! A few weeks ago, thanks to
the generosity of Mariemont Hall of Famer, General Jeff Foley, MHS ’74
, I was the guest of the US Army for 5 days in San Antonio, Texas. The
Army All-American Bowl with rosters of the top 90 high school seniors
across the country took place on Saturday, Jan 9. It was a good game
that showcased some very talented young men who no doubt will be future
college standouts and professional players. My favorite part of the
trip; however, was the opportunity I had to learn more about the Army at
Fort Sam Houston and the Brooke Army Medical Center and the outstanding
people who serve and defend our great country. Everyone I met had served
in either Iraq or Afghanistan and although they came from all walks of
life from all over the US, they were a lot like the kids I know here at
Mariemont and those that have graduated from here. GREAT PEOPLE…
In fact, we have had many fine young men and women from our school serve
in one of the armed services after graduation. I have always felt
the utmost respect for those that serve our country and I hope you will
join me in thanking the soldiers and sailors that you meet along the way
in life.
