late night heroics
(story of the year, repeated from july 2008) At approximately 12:20 AM on Saturday, July 21st, MPC Commanders Ted Brown and Andy Richardson were traveling east bound on Columbia Parkway near dead man's curve. As they approached, they noticed a car wrecked into the wall in the right lane of the westbound side. The car was abandoned but from where it was located it was concealed by the turn and there was no way that it could be seen by vehicles traveling around the bend. Immediately ascertaining the danger, Brown and Richardson jumped into action. Deploying cones and flares carried in Brown's vehicle and throwing on reflective vests, they alerted oncoming drivers and diverted traffic into the left lane until Cincinnati Police arrived. "We just happened to come along at the right time," said Brown "I'm glad we able to prevent an bad situation from becoming much worse." Situations like this demonstrate value of the skill and experience gained at MPC and embody the motto "always prepared, always ready." I |
